Everyone Listen to Peter

Wow. Just wow. Peter Schiff is a genius. If you see him talking, listen.

Despite what you may be thinking after watching the video, he’s not magical, he just understands something called “Austrian Economic Theory.” Look it up; it really does explain a lot.

The Creed of Freedom

I have finally found my philosophical home. These are the things that I’ve felt for a long time, but haven’t had quite the words to express them. But this group has written them down in 5 succinct statements. These are my feelings on society and government, coalesced into a short document. I’m very happy to have found it. It’s from a group called Freedom Force, and it’s called The Creed of Freedom.

THE CREED OF FREEDOM

INTRINSIC NATURE OF RIGHTS
I believe that only individuals have rights, not the collective group; that these rights are intrinsic to each individual, not granted by the state; for if the state has the power to grant them, it also has the power to deny them, and that is incompatible with personal liberty.
I believe that a just government derives its power solely from the governed. Therefore, the state must never presume to do anything beyond what individual citizens also have the right to do. Otherwise, the state is a power unto itself and becomes the master instead of the servant of society.

SUPREMACY OF THE INDIVIDUAL
I believe that one of the greatest threats to freedom is to allow any group, no matter its numeric superiority, to deny the rights of the minority; and that one of the primary functions of just government is to protect each individual from the greed and passion of the majority.

FREEDOM OF CHOICE
I believe that desirable social and economic objectives are better achieved by voluntary action than by coercion of law. I believe that social tranquility and brotherhood are better achieved by tolerance, persuasion, and the power of good example than by coercion of law. I believe that those in need are better served by charity, which is the giving of one’s own money, than by welfare, which is the giving of other people’s money through coercion of law.

EQUALITY UNDER LAW
I believe that all citizens should be equal under law, regardless of their national origin, race, religion, gender, education, economic status, life style, or political opinion. Likewise, no class should be given preferential treatment, regardless of the merit or popularity of its cause. To favor one class over another is not equality under law.

PROPER ROLE OF GOVERNMENT
I believe that the proper role of government is negative, not positive; defensive, not aggressive. It is to protect, not to provide; for if the state is granted the power to provide for some, it must also be able to take from others, and once that power is granted, there are those who will seek it for their advantage. It always leads to legalized plunder and loss of freedom. If government is powerful enough to give us everything we want, it is also powerful enough to take from us everything we have. Therefore, the proper function of government is to protect the lives, liberty, and property of its citizens; nothing more. That government is best which governs least.

Upgraded!

I finally got around to upgrading worspress to the latest version. Not surprisingly, it took me wanting to try the new Wordpress App on my iTouch to get it done. So this is my first iPost.

You’re all real impressed I’m sure ;)

I promise to write something with meaning soon.

Testing from Google Docs

Hi there. I’m just testing Google Docs. It claims to be able to post to my blog, so if you’re reading this, then I guess it does.

As for the post image, I really just wanted to see if putting an image into a google doc would work, and whether it would post that image to my blog. It does indeed. The image however also has the benefit of making a point. It’s no secret that I’m not a socialist. In fact, I’m quite the opposite. I love freedom in all its forms. Socialism is the evil opposite of freedom. While I’m not saying that Obama is a full-on socialist, he would no doubt move the country even farther in that direction. He says quite plainly and often that he will. So I will never support or even think about voting for him. The same is of course true of Hillary and McCain, but I didn’t find nearly as cool and funny an image for them :)

Ron Paul Predicts Recession in 1983

Dr. Paul is the only candidate I’ve ever heard (ever) who isn’t saying things for an election that he hasn’t said (or voted against: Barak) in the past. Below is a video from 1983 where he points out the travesty of the central bank (federal reserve) and how it will produce, not stabilize, economic turmoil. He predicts the 1987 recession in ‘83. Those same forces are acting on us today. Since the inception of the Fed in 1913 the US Dollar has lost around 96% of its value. Everyone is complaining about Oil and Gas prices, but Oil and Gas are very stable in relation to real monetary standards like gold and silver, it’s the Dollar that is managed by our government that is unstable and that is causing our money to be worth less, and may some day be worthless.

We have got to realize that the federal reserve is the new IRS. Since it would be too obvious to tax us at much higher rates, they simply ask the fed to print more money for them to use to fund programs which won’t do any good, but which they can talk about to get elected. Then, the money that the fed produced for that program means there is more money in the economy, which means that the money that was already out there is worth less than it was because the supply is larger. Therefore YOUR money is worth less than it was yesterday. This all means that by producing that money in Washington, they have very efficiently and effectively taxed you and I, all without making us fill out forms, causing any overt outrage, or stirring up the media.

Good Run Dawgs

We didn’t win the game, but making it to the Tourney was a huge win in-and-of itself. We did lead Xavier most of the game… but in the end it wasn’t enough.

Love ya Dawgs. Good luck next year. And Seniors; Thanks.

note: This means that I’ve got no chance in Blog This’s bracket challenge. Oh well :)

Today Everyone’s Irish

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Have a Guinness for me :)

Dawgs Win! Dawgs Win!

Holy shit!! The Georgia Bulldogs just beat Arkansas to win the SEC Championship… in Mens Basketball!!! If anyone tells you that they predicted this, they are lying to your face.

That has to be one of the best games I’ve ever seen. The Dawgs just played their 4th game in 3 days. They were obviously exhausted. But they trailed not once in the entire game. They were even up by 19 at one point in the first half. Had they not gotten that early lead, I don’t know if they’d have been able to hold on… but they did. Denis Felton just saved his job, and just got the Dawgs into the NCAA Tournament by the only method left available to them: the SEC Championship. Had we not won, we’d have had no chance of going, and no one (including myself) gave us a chance to win the SEC… so we had NO CHANCE AT ALL. And yet here I am, telling you all about it.

I realize that being a native of the Classic City, and being a 3rd generation UGA grad, I’m a bit biased. But I’ll still say that was one of the best games I’ve ever seen. The guys played so tired, and with so much heart…. it was just amazing.

Good luck in the NCAA Tourney Dawgs. No matter what happens however, the Dawg nation is very proud of your achievement.

Go Dawgs!

Wii Rock!!!!

We finally got another Guitar Hero controller for the Wii yesterday. I can’t believe it took them that long to release extra controllers for a game that requires a specialized controller (I know it’s not technically “required”, but it sucks w/o it), and has a sweet multiplayer mode. I guess it didn’t affect my opinion of Activision too badly, since I just dropped another (too much money) on the new controller. I must really love this game. I’ve spent more than 3x as much on this one game alone than I have on any other game, ever.

Activision: You people are geniuses. Please invite me to join you for your swim-meets in pools of my money.
